Three public information meetings will be held regarding the Polymet Northmet Project, Minnesota’s first proposed copper-nickel mine. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and U.S. Forest Service are seeking public review and input on the Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement.

Public Comment Period Begins: Dec. 14, 2013

Public Comment Period Ends: March 13, 2014

In 2012 Highland Copper Company, a Canadian mining corporation, through its U.S. subsidiary Keweenaw Copper Company began a mining project in Keweenaw County.  Test drilling is underway to determine the potential value of the ore body at two sites. Public briefings will be held at the dates and locations above.
