Highland Copper/Keweenaw Copper Project | MI

Status | Proposed — Keweenaw Copper Company, a subsidiary of Highland Copper Company began exploratory drilling in July 2012. Exploration is ongoing. 

Location | Several sites (9,186 acres of mineral rights are held), including the White Pine copper mine (now closed), along the Keweenaw Peninsula, MI. On February 11, 2014, Highland Copper announced its plans to purchase the Orvana Copperwood Project, also located on the Keweenaw Penisula.   • Area deposits include sulfide ore deposits. When brought to the surface and exposed to air and water waste rock could cause acid mine drainage.
